CSE Announces Senior Appointments to Board of Directors, Compliance and Listings Teams

The Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) today announced the addition of senior personnel who strengthen the exchange’s capabilities in the areas of disclosure and compliance, board-level oversight and listings management.  The new team members will enhance the high standards of service to which issuers and investors have become accustomed, as the exchange continues to experience strength in listings, trading volume and value of financing transactions.

The CSE is pleased to welcome Mary Anne Palangio (CPA, CA, CFA) to its Board of Directors.   Ms. Palangio has more than 25 years of senior operations, finance and technology experience in the financial sector, serving most recently as the Chief Financial Officer at the Ontario Pension Plan Administration Corporation and previously as Senior Vice President in the Investment Division at Manulife.

Ms. Palangio joins a board headed by Thomas Caldwell, CSE Chairman and also founder and Chairman of Caldwell Securities Ltd., and Ned Goodman, CSE Deputy Chairman and founder of Dundee Corporation.

The CSE has further enhanced its compliance team with the addition of John Hughes (CPA, CA, ACA) as Manager, Financial Disclosure and Compliance.  Mr. Hughes’ background includes six years as Manager, Corporate Finance at the Ontario Securities Commission, where he founded and served as Chairman of the Continuous Disclosure Advisory Committee.  Mr. Hughes’ experience advising on compliance with regulatory requirements is extensive and he has co-authored numerous publications issued by CPA Canada.

The CSE’s busy Vancouver office has expanded with the addition of capital markets professional Anna Serin.  Ms. Serin brings over 15 years of experience in securities markets and corporate finance and will contribute to the exchange’s listings development and listed company service initiatives, working with Vice President of Listings Development James Black, who is also based in Vancouver.

Supporting the CSE’s compliance team in a consulting capacity is Dr. Francis Manns (PhD Geology, Stratigraphy).  Dr. Manns brings a wealth of experience in resource exploration and public company oversight and is responsible for reviewing technical disclosure by natural resource issuers.

“We are delighted that several widely recognized experts who share our vision for the public markets have chosen to join the team at the CSE,” remarked Richard Carleton, CSE Chief Executive Officer.  “The CSE stands to benefit tremendously from the experience these professionals bring and will continue to demonstrate how focusing on efficiency helps enable the success of our issuers.”

Listings, trading volume and financing data will soon be released for the third quarter of 2016.  These numbers will show continued strong performance, proving that companies listed on the CSE are successfully accessing the capital they need to execute their business plans.  The exchange has recently set a number of single-day records for CSE-listed share volume traded and number of trades, most recently on September 21, when 51,028,687 million shares crossed the exchange’s tape.
