CNQ & PDAC Promote Benefits of Super-Flow-Through

CNQ hosted a presentation by MaryAnn Mihychuk, M.Sc., P.Geo, detailing the opportunities and challenges facing the mineral exploration industry in Canada at the recent Toronto Resource Investment Conference. Ms. Mihychuk is the Director of Regulatory Affairs of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) and is responsible for the areas of finance, taxation, regulations, securities and advocacy. She has 14 years of geological mapping experience and 15 years in elected office in Manitoba including 4 years as Minister of Industry, Trade and Mines.

Canada is a world leader in mining with 19% of worldwide exploration and 50% of equity financing activity occurring domestically. The Minerals Industry is responsible for creating around 738,000 direct and indirect jobs and constitutes 4% of Canada?s Gross Domestic Product. However, Canada?s reserves of most major metals is steadily declining and with world demand continuing to grow new discoveries are needed. As a result, PDAC remains a strong advocate of the Mineral Exploration Tax Credit as a means of maintaining Canada?s competitive edge in exploration.
