CNQ Appoints a New General Counsel

Toronto – August 20, 2008 – Canadian Trading and Quotation System Inc., operator of CNQ, Canada’s New Stock Exchange, and Pure Trading, today announced the appointment of Cindy F. Petlock to the position of General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

Cindy Petlock has extensive legal and regulatory expertise in the securities markets. She led the Market Regulation team at the Ontario Securities Commission through a period of significant change – from 2001-2007 – including the introduction of multiple markets in Canada. More recently, she was a consultant to Market Regulation Services Inc. and, after its merger with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada, to the merged entity, the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada. Prior to the OSC, she worked in the Compliance and Legal areas of a leading investment dealer and its parent bank.

“We are very pleased that Cindy has chosen to join the CNQ and Pure teams”, said Ian Bandeen, Vice-Chairman and CEO, “and we believe the market structure debate will greatly benefit from her regulatory background and experience in the industry at this critical juncture of the evolution of the multi-market environment.”
